Walk by Faith

Christians must turn their hearts back to God!

Walking the Walk by Faith

In post-modern America “The Christian Religion” is seen as backward, stale and not politically correct.  Many churches have attempted to adapt by blending into the liberal landscape.  They compromise their message which results in a diluted Gospel or “Easy-Believism.”  It burdens no one with conformity to outdated notions such as discipleship, morality and self-denial.  The adherents to this Cheap Grace blend in to society very well and do not appear to be any different than their secular neighbors.  Christ does not call people to be “religious” pew sitters.  He came to seek and save the lost.  Those who respond to His call are His disciples.  Walking the Walk by Faith presents Christ’s Gospel and the steps to becoming a true disciple of Christ who walks in the spirit.  The true disciple of Christ does not conform to society, but will stand out with a character that is just like His.

Walking the Walk by Faith is the first of my two books which deal with spiritual maturity of the Christian. My second book, Possessing the Treasure, is now available. It is for the Spirit-led believer. It deals with spiritual warfare and relationship issues.

Review of “Walking the Walk by Faith” by Mike Ratliff

Have you ever picked up a book and found it spoke to you in just the right way, at just the right time? “The Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis was such a book for me many years ago. Recently, “Walking the Walk by Faith” by Mike Ratliff, was another such book. I seldom read the Foreword or Introduction of non-fiction books, but I did this one. I am glad I did. Those brief narratives drew me in, allowed me to identify with the author, and caused me to read “for effect” (A term I used in college when I really needed to absorb the material). The material is impeccably organized and logically presented with a clear, concise writing style. There is enough of the author’s own life-experience included to give it personal warmth which makes the reading feel like a pleasant conversation with an old mentor and friend. Ample use of scriptures accentuates the points being made while amplifying the beauty of the scriptures themselves.

“Walking the Walk by Faith” will be an eminently useful book for any believer who seeks to deepen their faith and gain clearer insights into their Christian walk. It would also be a useful book for an earnest seeker who wants to know what the Christian walk is all about. Ratliff’s 18-point checklist and Four Stages of a believer’s transition from soul-led to spirit-led belief are remarkably clear and relevant and often caused this reader to ponder, reflect, and evaluate my own growth. The author stresses their use for self-evaluation and growth, not for judging others nor anything condemnatory. I have already found them extremely useful in my own self-examination.

This book is a celebration of the joy and peace of the Christian life. I believe it is destined to become a well-worn, dog-eared, ready-reference on many Christian nightstands. I highly recommend “Walking the Walk by Faith” to anyone.
